Well done John..sounds brilliant and scary x

Good man Dempsey and Mick F - sounds like something that's not for the faint hearted. Ye should be well able to lead Jim F out (secret road bike training on Thurs has him in ship-shape
)

Re: Wexford Cycling League 2014
I'm thinking about it John , I've no racing done this year yet so it could be a rude awakening . If I'm there I'll make sure to introduce myself .johnd wrote:Are you doing the Frank O'Rourke Patsy?

Did the Gorey race tonight with the A4's.
A bit stop / start, plenty of dawdling followed by vicious attacks. Stayed with the bunch the whole way round and managed to do a small bit of work near the front but nothing mad.
On the final lap I attacked plenty inside the final 5k, really working but managed to recover quick enough each time which is encouraging.
Into the final km or that and I threw everything I had at it but never managed to break from the sprinters behind and unfortunately ran out of puff about 200 meters from the line and the winners steamed past.
Happy with the nights work, a bit more endurance would help a lot.
Won't be down in Enniscorthy tomorrow, good luck to anyone taking part.

Re: Wexford Cycling League 2014
Jim and I joined Mick Foley at round 2 of the Slaney CC novice race yesterday evening.
It was a race paced and controlled mainly by the SERC team, though with numbers I reckon it would be very possible to break and stay away.
We stayed with all the breaks for the race and were in the mix at the final bend. The sprint for the line was a different story
Great craic! Mick was 3rd, with Jim and I 9th and 10th respectively.

Thanks to Mick for the lift and advice last night. Race was good fast paced, no breakaways and more or less constant speed.
It was a real eye opener, concentration levels need to be high moving fast in a group like that. Felt very comfortable throughout, as DT says if we had a group there we could do well if organised properly. For the stats geeks race was 37.5k, 5 laps, avg over 39kph, total time approx 58mins. The A4's started 3mins behind our race and we maintained that gap until the end even increasing it at one point.
In terms of all out effort it felt nothing like the MTB race last Sunday.
