I'm not going to go into the big explanation of what cyclocross is, but here is the thread from myself, DC and Franks exploits last season to give you a flavour of the action.

Basically its 45mins - 1hr of flat out shoulder-to-shoulder racing on grass and mud with some off the bike sections
So...better great training...
We are lucky in that we have the perfect training ground - the old Golflinks behind the FCJ Secondary school, which we have kindly been given permission to use again this year
Training will be every Tuesday at 7pm. The session will be:
2-3 warm up laps - approx 15mins
Intervals - approx 3 x 15s flat out, 15s rest, x 6 - 3 sets with 5 mins rest between sets. These are done as a group to simulate race action
10min cx specific drill - 30s flat out, 30s running shouldering the bike, 30s rest - repeat for10 mins
CurlyWurlys - 100m sprints with 360 degree turns - this is for practicing tight turns and accelerating hard out of corners
2-3 warm down laps
If there are newcomers we can also do some drills for mounting the bike, hopping off, barriers, shouldering technique etc...
Session takes about an hour and is HARD! The first few weeks will be a ball of pain! but if you want to race CX its necessary
All welcome - there are quite a few cx bikes knocking around so maybe if there are people there with cx bikes but not using them they might loan them out?
MTB's welcome as well, but let me tell ya if you turn up on an mtb you're going to suffer

Even if you don't intend to race, these are great sessions
